  • Carolina Lutheran Outreach Centers (CLOC)
An organization formed by concerned Lutherans who have a heart for social ministry and recognize that an outreach center is necessary to meet the needs of the most impoverished and at risk people living among us. Efforts are concentrated on after school programs that aid in reading comprehension and remedial math, as well as resiliency/self esteem components. The cetners provide nutritious snacks for after school students and sponsor a backpack program with other agencies to provide food through the weekend.
 Additionally, the center works with adults to deliver health and language courses.

  • Iglesia Luterana Manantial de Vida (ILMV)
Iglesia Luterana Manantial de Vida (Spring of Life), is a ministry of the SC Synod of the ELCA. Our mission is to serve individuals and families living in poverty - physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Our worshipping community includes programs that build community and change lives by helping immigrants  improve their English language skills, continue their education and learn life skills that will enable them to live healthy lives.

  • Iglesia Evangélica Luterana de Colombia
    Evangelical Lutheran Church of Colombia (IELCO)
IELCO is the South Carolina Synod’s newest companion synod relationship. IELCO has 14 churches and 5 missions in various parts of Colombia. Although IELCO is a small church it has made great strides in their work in the areas of environment, justice and human rights, HIV/AIDS, and education. Currently they have four Lutheran schools as part of the church and they are building a Lutheran School of Theology to better equip their pastors and laity in an understanding of Lutheran theology

  • Japan Evangelical Lutheran Association (JELA) 
    Japan Evangelical Lutheran Church (JELC)
JELC/JELA is one of the SC Synod’s companion synods. JELC and JELA work in cooperation on many ministry programs including helping families rebuild their lives following the disastrous earthquake and tsunami that struck in March of 2011.

  • Lutheran Family Services in the Carolinas (LFS) 
Each year, LFS Carolinas works to bring healing and wholeness to children, adults, families and communities through accredited human service programs at many program sites in North and South Carolina coordinated from community based offices in Raleigh and Charlotte, NC and Columbia, SC.  Founded in 1976, LFS is a joint social ministry of the North Carolina and South Carolina Synods of the ELCA.

  • Lutheran Homes of South Carolina (LHSC)
Lutheran Homes of South Carolina enhances the well being of older adults by providing residential, health care and hospice services. The ministries of Lutheran Homes include five continuing care retirement communities---Franke at Seaside in Mt. Pleasant, the Heritage at Lowman in White Rock, Rice Estate in Columbia, RoseCrest in Inman, and Trinity on Laurens in Aiken; Lutheran Hospice in the Upstate, Midlands and Lowcountry; and BeWell Home Services in the Upstate, Midlands and Lowcountry.   • Lutheridge+Lutherock Ministries, Inc. (LLMI)
Lutheridge+Lutherock Ministries Inc. is owned and operated by the Florida-Bahamas, North Carolina, South Carolina, Southeastern synods of the ELCA and serves all ages from the SE United States. Its mission is to provide programs, opportunities, and places apart where all people can experience a Christ-centered community, grow in relationship to God and God’s creation, and be equipped for ministry. Camp and conference facilities are Lutheridge, 160 acres in Arden, NC known for its summer camp and year-round ministry programs; and Lutherock, 700 acres on Sugar Mountain, known for its rugged, outdoor adventure ministry.  www.llmi.net

Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary (LTSS)


Southern Seminary has served the Church since its founding by the South Carolina Synod in 1830. The seminary’s mission is to teach, form and nurture men and women to become servant leaders in the public ministries of the Church. Southern Seminary is one of eight ELCA seminaries and has been located on N. Main Street in Columbia, SC since 1911. Offering three degree programs: Master of Divinity, (M. Div), Master of Arts in Religion (M.A.R.), and Master of Sacred Theology (S.T.M.). Southern Seminary draws students from Region 9 of the ELCA and from across the country. South Carolina Lutheran Retreat Centers (SCLRC)


SCLRC provides places of hospitality where congregations, communities and individuals can experience a Christian environment to renew faith, foster fellowship, build memories and encounter the glory of God’s creation. These places of hospitality are Camp Kinard near Batesburg-Leesville, and Coastal Retreat Center on Isle of Palms, SC. We host a variety of groups all year at both centers. We provide facilities at Kinard for special summer camps such as Camp Kemo, a camp for children fighting cancer, Camp Wonder Hands which is for kids who are deaf and hard of hearing, and Children Unlimited, a camp for special needs kids waiting for adoptive placement. South Western Diocese Of Tanzania (SWDT)


The South Western Diocese is located in the southwestern corner of Tanzania in a remote mountain region. The Diocese was created in 1992 when the Southern Diocese of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Tanzania was divided. There are approximately 18 parishes and each parish has several congregations. Tanzania is a very stable country, but very poor, with warm and friendly citizens. The Lutheran Church’s rapid growth rate in Tanzania makes it one of the world’s fastest growing churches in East Africa.


Synod Malaria Task Force (SMTF)

The Synod Malaria Task Force is a group of pastors and lay people focused on raising awareness and encourgaing participation of SC Congregations in joint effort with the ELCA to eradicate malaria in Africia.
